This hiking trail, which has been awarded the „Qualitätsweg Wanderbares Deutschland“ quality mark, was named in honour of the forestry councillor Ernst Ehmsen. The founder of the Sauerland Mountain Association would have been proud of this north-west route through the Sauerland, because far away from roads and traffic, we experience a natural idyll that is rarely found in Germany.

On the Talsperrenweg, we hike from Hagen in Westphalia through the Ennepe-Ruhr valley, make a short excursion into the Oberbergisches Land region, roam through the Siegerland region and finally reach the historic old town of Biedenkopf, located in the Lahn-Dill-Bergland region. Along the way, you will pass a total of eight dams as well as other exciting sights and scenic highlights in a constant up and down cycle.
