Long-distance hikes in the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis

The Wupper Trail takes us mostly along the course of the river Wupper. We experience nature and culture of a special kind.

The Count Engelbert Trail is one of the most important northern Süd routes through the Bergisches Land and leads the hiker in the footsteps of Count Engelbert in six day stages from Hattingen on the Ruhr to Schladern.

The Ruhr Heights Trail follows the course of the Ruhr from its source near Winterberg to where it flows into the Rhine in Duisburg. For the most part, we do not hike directly along the banks, but on the ridges on both sides of the river from the Rothaargebirge mountains to the Lower Rhine in the Ruhr region.

The Westphalia Hiking Trail, managed by the Sauerland Mountain Association, takes us from the Ruhr region over the ridges of the Adrey and Haar strands, to the valleys of the Möhne and Alme, and into the Egge Mountains on the southern edge of the Münsterland Bay. We hike along hilly paths and trails that allow us to steadily gain altitude.

On the Talsperrenweg, we hike from Hagen in Westphalia through the Ennepe-Ruhr valley, make a short excursion into the Oberbergisches Land region, roam through the Siegerland region and finally reach the historic old town of Biedenkopf, located in the Lahn-Dill-Bergland region. Along the way, you will pass a total of eight dams as well as other exciting sights and scenic highlights in a constant up and down cycle.

Vom Parkplatz an der Brücke am Seeufer bis zur Funkenburg. Rechts hinauf auf die Höhe und bis zum Speicherbecke, dann hinab über Aussichtspunkte die alle zugewachsen beim Schiffswinkel auf die Uferstraße. Über die Brücke am Lauwasserkraftwerk auf die Südseite des Sees bis zur Brücke. Auf derS üdseite weiter im Bogen um den die Oszspitze. Mit Blick auf die Lennemündung und hinauf zur Syburg weiter zur Brücke und zum Startpunkt.

Ein Fernwanderweg, den man bequem aus Essen starten kann und auf dem Ruhrhöhenweg beginnt. Danach folgt er einem kleinem Stück dem Plackweg und startet dann in Altena auf dem Sauerland-Höhenflug komplett durch bis nach Korbach.
