Long-distance hikes in Neuwied

On varied paths, the Rheinsteig leads through the narrow valleys of the Rhine. Between Bonn, Koblenz and Wiesbaden there are spectacular views of the culture and landscape of the Rhine valley.

The approximately 70 km long Limes hiking trail from Rheinbrohl through the Westerwald to Bad Ems traces the footsteps of the Romans along reconstructed Limes watchtowers, forts, fortifications, ditches and ruins of Roman baths 

From Bad Honnef several rises and slopes take you through constantly changing scenery to the colourful town of Linz on the Rhine.

This stage of the trail leads from Horhausen past the legendary 'Bildeiche' oak tree to Peterslahr in the Lahrer Herrlichkeit region and through the Bertenauer Kopf nature reserve to Strauscheid.

Raiffeisenland - the cradle of cooperatives according to F.W. Raiffeisen and the natural Wiedtal with its romantic river loops.

With its mixture of woodland, meadows, vineyards, fields and little villages, this section of the Rheinsteig is rich in variety. There are a number of short but steep ascents.

We’re now in the land of the Romans. This region is strongly associated with the Limes which was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2005.

This stage of the Rheinsteig takes us back towards the Rhine. In addition to the various cultural attractions in Bendorf-Sayn, the trail also runs right past the zoo in Neuwied.

The Rheinsteig takes us on a total of 23 stages from Wiesbaden to Bonn and thus runs through the three federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse. We experience an incomparable variety of landscapes, historical buildings and sites as well as many cultural highlights. We divide the 320 km into short daily stages, where we experience the beauty and diversity of the Rhine Valley anew every day.
