Orange-Nassau Museum and landmark of the city
Wilhelm I was born here in 1533. In his honour the Dillenburgers built the Wilhelmsturm from 1872 to 1875. It houses the Orange-Nassau Museum, which is dedicated to the connection of the House of Nassau-Dillenburg with the Dutch royal house. The architecturally and medially lavishly designed entrance hall shows, among other things, the history of the Dutch liberation struggle. Monitors provide information about the work of William of Orange. The tower also houses a unique section on early modern fortress construction in Hesse. The highlight: a virtual corridor showing the old Dillenburg Castle before its destruction.
