The cable car carries you in comfort to the top of Salzburg City’s most legendary local mountain. As you step out of the lift, you will be greeted by imposing views that stretch out to the far horizon.

Experience the Untersberg and treat yourself to a break at one of the highest mountains near the city of Salzburg.

The Untersberg cable car - Since 1961, the cable car has been transporting hikers, nature lovers and fans of great scenery up the mountain and back down to the valley again afterwards.

The Unique Panorama - The ride in one of two roomy gondolas takes about ten minutes. When you step out at the top, an incredible view of Salzburg City, Berchtesgadener Land (in Germany) and the Rosittental deep below reveals itself before your eyes. In good visibility, you can even see all the way out to the Salzkammergut lakes as well as Lake Chiemsee in Bavaria.

Close to the Geiereck mountain station - There is actually a lot waiting to be discovered close to the mountain station as well: the Geiereck (1,776 m) itself, a monument to soldiers who served in mountain regiments, and the Salzburger Hochthron (1,853 m). Numerous hiking routes begin close to the mountain station, too. But if you simply prefer to relax and take in the views, we suggest renting out a comfortable deckchair.
