The tour starts at the Elisabethkirche, the oldest Gothic church in Germany. Over mostly narrow paths as well as somewhat wider forest and gravel paths, the route winds through the beech and spruce forest of the Marburg Ridge. From the Freitagtempel on the Kirchspitze, there is a magnificent view of the city of Marburg. After a steep climb, north-east of Michelbach, you reach a hill with wind turbines. Here, in good weather, you have a fantastic view over the Lahn valley and the surrounding low mountain range landscape. The route then descends on an asphalt path into the Lahn valley. We cross the district of Wehrda from north to south (Auf der Jöch --> Freiherr-Stein-Straße) until we reach Mengelsgasse. Now we continue to the roundabout of Goßfeldener Straße. From there we ll cross the Lahn in the direction of Cölbe. At the first opportunity, we turn right and walk along the Lahn cycle path until we reach Bahnhofstraße. Now we follow Bahnhofstraße and turn left onto Robert-Koch-Straße. After crossing the Lahn again, we reach Firmaneistraße, which leads directly to Firmaneiplatz and the Elisabethkirche.
Take the train to Marburg (Lahn). Then buses leave almost every minute from the bus stop "Marburg Hauptbahnhof" to the bus stop "Elisabethkirche".
The Elisabethkirche can also be reached in 10 minutes on foot via Bahnhofstraße.
Coming from Kassel, the starting point of the tour (Marburg, Elisabethkirche) can be reached via the A49 and the B3. First take the A49 towards Marburg/Baunatal/Dortmund, Kassel-Niederzwehren and take exit 16-Borken (Hesse) onto the B3. In Marburg, take the exit towards Bahnhofstraße/Hauptbahnhof. Then take Bahnhofstraße, Elisabethstraße and Deutschhausstraße to the Firmanei car park (next to the Elisabethkirche).
Coming from Gießen follow the B3 to Wilhelm-Röpke-Straße in Marburg. Then take the exit "Marburg-Mitte". Via Wilhelm-Röpke-Straße --> Krummbogen -->Bahnhofstraße --> Elisabethstraße --> Deutschhausstraße --> you can reach the Firmaneiplatz car park directly next to the Elisabethkirche.
Firmaneiplatz car park (small): chargeable (1.20 euros/h; 6 euros/5 h; maximum parking duration: 5 h)
