Destination

Elisabeth Church, Marburg

Turn-by-turn directions

The tour starts at the Elisabethkirche, the oldest Gothic church in Germany. Over mostly narrow paths as well as somewhat wider forest and gravel paths, the route winds through the beech and spruce forest of the Marburg Ridge. From the Freitagtempel on the Kirchspitze, there is a magnificent view of the city of Marburg. After a steep climb, north-east of Michelbach, you reach a hill with wind turbines. Here, in good weather, you have a fantastic view over the Lahn valley and the surrounding low mountain range landscape. The route then descends on an asphalt path into the Lahn valley. We cross the district of Wehrda from north to south (Auf der Jöch --> Freiherr-Stein-Straße) until we reach Mengelsgasse. Now we continue to the roundabout of Goßfeldener Straße. From there we ll cross the Lahn in the direction of Cölbe. At the first opportunity, we turn right and walk along the Lahn cycle path until we reach Bahnhofstraße. Now we follow Bahnhofstraße and turn left onto Robert-Koch-Straße. After crossing the Lahn again, we reach Firmaneistraße, which leads directly to Firmaneiplatz and the Elisabethkirche.
