Turn-by-turn directions
From the starting point at the sports field, we cross the L306 and turn into Baumgartenstraße, which we follow until we reach a railway subway. Here Baumgartenstraße becomes Schwalmweg. After about 100 m, we cross the bridge over the Schwalm and cross the floodplain until we reach a cycle path. We then turn right and then left again. We follow the path through a small piece of woodland (Dorneshecke) and 200 m later turn left into the field path, which we follow until we reach the country road (L3145).
In the following we turn left and walk about 300 m on the L3145. From here we turn right and walk downhill until we reach the next junction. We keep to the right and walk along the path that runs parallel to the Todenbach. After about 1.5 km, we cross the Todenbach and walk to the right further up the hill, along the other bank of the Todenbach.
At the next junction we turn sharp right (almost 90°) until we reach the highest point of the tour at 365 m altitude. From here we walk left, in a south-easterly direction, down the mountain until we reach the Katzenbach valley. We follow the Katzenbach towards the north-east, cross a pond and finally reach the open field again. Then the route runs to the sports field in Rommershausen, which lies directly on the Schwalm. We turn left and follow the course of the Schwalm. At the next major crossroads, we keep to the right and walk to Dittershausen.
From Dittershausen we follow the course of the Schwalm again. From now on, we take a cycle path back to the Schwalmaue near Allendorf and from there we take the same path back to the starting point of the tour (sports field).
By road
