Turn-by-turn directions
The tour starts in Panoramastraße in Welferode. The small village lies about 4 km east of the small town of Homberg (Efze) at an altitude of 361 metres. From here, in fine weather, there is a fantastic view of the Homberg Schlossberg.
We first follow a field path to a small wooded area west of Berndshausen. We cross the wooded area on a gravelled path and reach the Berndshausen barbecue hut on the right. The medium-sized barbecue hut belongs to the municipality of Knüllwald and can be booked by anyone. Next to the hut is a basalt wall that is well worth seeing.
On field paths we reach the village of "Dickershausen", which we then cross. On an asphalted path, the trail climbs gently up the hill to Lengemannsau. We cross the L3224 and after about a kilometre we reach the Grünhof. The farm located directly next to the runway of the Mosenberg airfield hosts the small (approx. 1,000 visitors) but extremely friendly Musikschutzgebiet festival every summer.
We follow the path to the building of the Homberg/Efze air sports club. There are guest flying opportunities on demand as well as a taster course offer for those interested in flying during the holiday season. After registration, paragliders and hang-gliders can also take off from the steep slope of the Mosenberg.
We then follow the path through a nature reserve to the summit of the Mosenberg. Unfortunately, the trees here block the view of the town of Homberg. We walk down the opposite side of the mountain to the "Sauerburg" farm. To the west of the farm is a small hut from which there is a good view of Homberg.
From the hut we walk on field paths again in the direction of Welferode and finally cross another small piece of forest (Hopfenberg) and reach the starting point again after another kilometre.
By road
Coming from Homberg (Efze), we first follow the B323 and then turn onto the L3254 towards Welferode.
In Welferode, we turn left into Hasselweg and reach Panoramaweg at the end of the road. There we turn left again and reach the starting point of the tour.
