Bad Berleburg

Enjoy moments of happiness in Bad Berleburg along the way. Close to nature, high-quality and full of variety: our certified hiking trails such as the slate trail, the Via Adrina, the wisent trail or the forest sculpture trail are the best of their kind. The cultural offerings are also excellent. The 750-year-old residence town is crowned by Schloss Berleburg palace, the seat of the Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg family.

“Traditional markets”: handicrafts and customs, the region and the local people are the focus of our traditional markets. At the wool market in May, you can watch the sheep being shorn, so that they lose their winter wool. There’s a wonderful atmosphere at the bread market and harvest thanksgiving in October. Then, the local youth decorate their harvest carts and the bakery collectives fire up their ovens. Around the third weekend in Advent, the town is made particularly enchanting by the “Christmas journey through time”. The Christmas market all around Schloss Berleburg offers a romantic journey from the Middle Ages and the Baroque and Biedermeier periods, through to today for the whole family.
