Bad Reichenhall

Bad Reichenhall is the district capital of Berchtesgadener Land and is located in the southeast of Germany on the border with Austria. Thanks to its direct connection to the Alps, Bad Reichenhall is a popular vacation destination in both summer and winter. The city is also a health resort and has numerous saltwater springs and thermal baths.

Several peaks surround Bad Reichenhall. The most prominent are the Predigtstuhl and the Hochstaufen. Climbers reach the Hochstaufen via the Pidinger Klettersteig. Hikers climb from Baumgarten to Predigtstuhl. A worthwhile route for mountain bikers leads around the Lattengebirge. If you want to enrich yourself culturally, hike the Burgenweg. There are five well-preserved fortifications that can be visited around Bad Reichenhall.

In winter, Bad Reichenhall is especially interesting for winter hikers and cross-country skiers. In the neighboring community of Bayrisch Gmain, there are three cross-country ski trails that can be combined into one long trail. Also in Bayrisch Gmain the Wald-Idyll-Pfad (trail) starts, which offers a special experience in the snowy landscape around Bad Reichenhall in winter. But alpine skiers will also find delightful destinations in Berchtesgadener Land. The nostalgic Predigtstuhl cable car takes winter sports enthusiasts up to the peak of the same name, where there are some easy downhill runs.
