Many hiking tours take you along the Königssee in winter and offer you picturesque views. A good choice in this context is the „winter hike along the picturesque Königssee“. This is one of the easy hikes with a length of only 4 kilometres. On this tour you will be on the move for around 1.5 hours and climb over 200 metres of altitude to the highest point at 731 metres above sea level.
If you are looking for something more challenging, we recommend the Königsseer Fußweg“ winter hike. It is classified as moderately difficult, as it is 10 kilometres long. Allow 3 hours for the route. You do not need any special equipment for the hike, as the trail is maintained all year round. While hiking, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Berchtesgadener Land all the way to Ramsau.
Hiking into the mountains
Around Schönau at Königssee you can explore numerous hiking trails that take you into the mountains and offer a unique mountain experience. On the „Winter hike at almost half the altitude" you hike a distance of just under 15 kilometres üover Vorderbrand and Obersalzberg. The tour ends at the Berchtesgaden train station, so it is easily accessible by bus and train. Take 4.5 hours for the excursion. Although the route is considered easy, you should have a good basic level of fitness.
A somewhat shorter route is the „Winter hike to the Brandkopf". It is only 2.6 kilometres long and takes only 1.5 hours. From the Brandkopf you can catch a picturesque view of the Königssee and on a clear day you can see as far as Bad Reichenhall.
